Bush's false (yet "compassionate") conservatism severely damaged the Republican Party's brand and credibility. Further blows from McCain might have destroyed it outright.

In any case, you only would have bought some time at the expense of the most prominent and best-positioned political mechanism to advance the conservative agenda. And then we would have Obama, or Hillary, or somebody just as bad, except without any opposition at all.

I find it amusing that you have to ping all your other hard-headed, self righteous and narrow-minded buddies whenever you reply to a post.

I just haven't quite figured out if it is because you think your reply was so clever [It wasn't] or if it is that you need moral support and like most bullies you all tend to travel in packs.
