Well... I’ve been to Oakland, since 1941. I left CA in ‘69 because the whole place was going down the tubes and I had kids going into Jr. High. No place to raise a family. Oakland has been a hell hole for all of my life. We used to refer to big, work-type boots as West Oakland Stompers. My dad & mom would take us to Oakland to shop, and we’d be out of there waaay before dark, and that was in the ‘40’s.

I went to Oakland around 10 years ago. I remember thinking it seemed like inner-city environs. I also remember thinking, based on the people I saw, that it was predominately black. But... maybe it has changed in 10 years.
I have. Worked in the downtown area for approx 12 yrs 80-92. Day shift was usually ok but evenings and nights were whole different matter. There were at least 5 women in the office who carried and I am sure they didn't have any CCW. I did also on those shifts. Too dangerous going to your car.
