It happened within a half mile of the Coliseum(where the A’s and Raiders play). It is probably one of the worst sections of Oakland. The violence problem in Oakland is a black problem. SF and San Jose have a problem with Hispanic and Asian gangs. I had to fly out of the Oakland Airport one evening. I took the BART to the Coliseum Station and then go outside to catch a shuttle to the airport. Even though there was a BART cop in the station, there were at least 6 hookers right outside at 8 PM.

Take a shuttle or even a cab. The area at night is too dicey. I used to work at the Oakland airport for 2 yrs and know the general area
