Gotta try to eliminate anyone else from consideration as early as possible if a candidate as weak as Mitt Romney has a snowball's chance.

Please see my post #46. While your assessment of the motive of the poster may be correct, it is irrelevant to the issue of the serious mistake Sanford has made.

By either failing, or worse, refusing to correctly characterize and respond accurately and substantively to Rush's statement, Sanford demonstrates a serious lack of some combination of understanding, judgment and commitment to principle.

Neither Romney supporters nor the orcs of the Left will be able to destroy Sanford, Jindal, or others unless they themselves keep giving them the ammunition. The fact that they keep doing so is the real cause for concern.

I'm so sorry if I implied that I support Sanford or his "idiot" statement, because I don't. I believe that these are distractions from people who should know better, at a time we (as a nation) cannot afford to have silly distractions.

Sanford fell right into a trap the talking heads set. Frankly, he should know better, a lot better. He seems to show a distinct lack of understanding.

I don't know about that. I see tremendous harm in what Romney is doing as he tries to position himself for another run in 2012. It is more than simply distracting for Romney or his supporters to attack sitting governors for his sole (potential) benefit. Anything that detracts from the 2010 election, or from keeping Conservative governors in office must be rejected.

Holding Romney to the same standard I'm willing to hold Mark Sanford to, he lacks (in your words) "some combination of understanding, judgment and commitment to principle". Insulting other Republicans is distracting from the message that the GOP needs to stay on if it plans to make gains in the 2010 election.

In the case of Sanford, or Jindal, or (fill in the black) it's one thing to make mistakes as you work your way up the political ladder. You make them, you learn from them, and hopefully, you do better and begin to rise. It is entirely another thing to have members of your own party attack you and take you to task for their sole benefit.

Too many of the "articles" I've seen on Romney lately seem to be attack pieces on other Republicans. It's as though he thinks he can't win unless he destroys the other potential candidates before the race even starts.
