Nonsense. It is not a smear to point out the incredibly stupid and asinine mistakes the guys on "our side" keep making.
In the case of Sanford's comment about Limbaugh's statement he clearly demonstrated that he either never listened to it first-hand or read a full transcript. If he had he would have understood that Rush was explaining that if Obama "succeeds" in his agenda, then America, at least the America we all profess to love, dies. It is only if Obama "fails" that the Constitutional Republic to which we pledge allegiance has even a chance to avoid the destruction we're hurtling towards like an out-of-control freight train.
What Sanford instead showed was that he was lazy, that instead of doing his own research, or even bothering to call and talk with Rush, he took the media's version and spin of Rush's comments as accurate and decided he'd try to score some cheap points with the MSM by posing as a "sensible", "moderate" or "reasonable" GOP "leader".
On the other hand, if Sanford actually was aware of the complete quote, context and explanation delineated by Limbaugh, and still decided to take this shot, then that's even worse, because it shows that Sanford, despite his authentic conservative credentials on certain matters, e.g. economics, either does not comprehend the totality of the war to destroy the Republic which is being waged by our domestic enemies, including the current administration, Congress and media, or else he does understand but lacks the courage and will to stand up and fight them, and doesn't really believe or have the necessary commitment to the principles he proclaims to hold dear.
Limbaugh is not picking fights with "our guys" - they are the ones picking fights with him in a futile effort to curry favor with a media and the Left which fully intends to destroy them no matter what they do, no matter how "reasonable" or "moderate" they try to appear.
What Rush IS doing is holding their feet to the fire, burning away the slag and dross of their desperately evasive, contradictory, wishy-washy and cowardly attempts to straddle every fence and finesse every issue. He's telling them that this is no longer politics as usual, the game has changed, the hour is very late, and it's time for them to find their spines, to stand-up for their avowed principles, and to aggressively take the fight to the enemy.
They, of course, don't like it, they're terrified, and they stupidly think that by helping their mortal enemies "make Rush go away" they'll be able to make this dire reality go away as well.
Good analysis. Either way, you have to question Sanford’s judgment.
As a group, Republicans are cowards. How hard could it be to stand up and say, “It looks like President Obama’s agenda is to turn America into a European-style socialist welfare state, and if that’s the case then certainly I want him to fail. On the other hand, I will do everything in my power to help President Obama succeed by cutting taxes, reducing the size of government, and restoring America to its traditional roots of freedom, liberty, and personal responsibility.”?
Oh Puhleese, it is time to stop shooting the good guys. Rush vs Sanford is some manufactured BS by the Soros Media...don’t spread this crap. Sanford has his flaws like everyone but he is heads and shoulders preferable to Romney, Guiliani, McCain, Pawlenty and all other has/never beens!
Jindal & Palin are good but they are both novices on the National scene, Sanford been in DC, DRat Country, taken the heat from the left and stood by his principles.
