It is now spring; the vernal equinox was reached Friday morning. To celebrate, Barack Obama sent a video of himself to Iran.
This was one of several end-of-week media performances, as Mr. Obama went back into "campaign mode" after a break of several months. The message of the polls is that he had better start selling his policies harder, because they are showing signs of not going over very well. Moreover, the unpolled elites, including those within the Democratic Party, have started to ask questions aloud about whether their man is competent; and as we know from painful history, such uncertainties from an elite tend to "trickle down."

Once again, the Canadian media seems to be capable of reporting the truth rather than the message.

From the article - and one of the things that Zero says that REALLY p_sses me off:
"To a man like Obama, as he has let slip on too many occasions when away from his teleprompter, "Middle America" is not something to be compromised with, but rather, something that must be manipulated, because it is stupid. And the proof that it can be manipulated, is that he is the president today.

David Warren is a welcome anomaly from the north.

To my analytical mind, such as it is, they wanted Obama the man, but not Obama the agenda, except for the uplifting rhetorical bits about "hope," "change," and so forth. He is probably right about this but, to my mind, anyone who would vote for a person who refused to verify his qualifications for office with a valid birth certificate, who was mentored at a young age by a die hard Communist, whose friends and acquaintances are all leftists, including Jeramiah Wright, who has never accomplished anything notable, and who leaves no paper trail to his thoughts and activities, then those voters have no excuse for being surprise at what they got.

"They most certainly liked the man and his "temperament," and they most certainly wanted the Republicans out. But it did not follow that they wanted their government to lurch to the left."Only the galactically stupid would not have anticipated that "lurch to the left." As for his "likeability," I've never found smug leftists particularly likeable.

He has moved the American position towards Iran from offensive to defensive, for no defensible reason. I think I know the reason.

Much of our country has become shallow and superficial. Obama is easy on the eye, has a pleasing voice, and his message of hope brings with it good feelings, ergo he must be a nice guy and would make a good president. It's what passes for logic in our current culture.
Years ago my late mother-in-law admitted, with a guilty chuckle, that she voted for JFK because he had nice hair. She wasn't a stupid person, but she was ignorant of the complexities of politics. When we have a shallow, superficial electorate we get President Barack Obama, and people who sincerely wonder why everything isn't rosey.
We're becoming Wells' Eloi.

but he is also the product of environments in which even moderately conservative ideas are never considered; but where people on the further reaches of the left are automatically welcomed as "avant-garde." Progressives live to control the future, but the problem is that they have no idea where there going.
To them, progress means CHANGE...whether its better or not is immaterial.
The Democrats were so desperate to be in complete power that they handed it to a narcissistic megalomaniac who will wind up destroying what they sought to control.
We can only prepare for the worst, pray for the best, and try to come out somewhere in between.

It would be nice if we could unscrew the tops off everyone's heads and pour this knowledge in. If they only knew.

Before long, Carter will appear competent and Clinton will look honest.
