Obama/Dems to Be Blamed for AIG Bonus Scandal?

"AIG is Obama's 'Katrina' -- in terms of an example of government's failure -- and the failure of presidential leadership."

... That's according to former Ohio Secretary of State and Family Research Council Senior Fellow Ken Blackwell.

Clearly the AIG bonus story has spurred a huge populist backlash -- building on angst which had previously only been manifest during the Santelli rant -- and subsequent tea parties.

But anger over the AIG bailout appears to be just now reaching fever pitch, and it is starting to look like the bonus scandal may be laid solely at the feet of Democrats (they are quickly moving to get tough with AIG, forcing people to pay back the bonus money, but it is becoming clear that some key Democratic leaders were aware of the bonuses before they were paid).

And because Republicans -- who do not control the presidency or either house of congress -- were excluded from the hastily-written stimulus bill, they can hardly be blamed for the bonuses being paid.

President Obama, of course, promised during the campaign that he wouldn't sign anything unless it had been online for five days. "If this had been followed, business experts would have had time to review the bill, and we could have, perhaps, avoided this catastrophe. But President Obama broke his word, and now we are all stuck with paying this bill," added Blackwell.

Blackwell believes the AIG bonus scandal has the potential to devastate Obama's first term, just as President Bush's mishandling of Katrina devastated his second term. "And just as President Bush had his point man, Michael Brown, President Obama has his point-man,

Still a pittance.

And it's not the story. The story is about ginning up public outrage against bonuses that had been negotiated -- by contract -- well in advance. Every one of the Dems frothing at the mouth about them had been aware of the bonuses for months.

Now they're caught in their own lies, except, of course, for Teleprompter Man, who they're trying to pass off as an innocent naif who knew nothing about it -- pure as the driven snow. The only problem with that characterization is that this is the same doofus who was described a few weeks back as being exhausted from all his late-night work on "fixing" the economy.

Every one of the Dems frothing at the mouth about them had been aware of the bonuses for months.

And that is exactly what I'm talking about.

They are cultivating public outrage over an insignificant amount of money.

They pi$$ed away the whole farm.

Sure, they are getting some flack now but the focus has shifted away from the farm and only on the tractor.

Now that they've recovered the tractor through taxes, the msm will ignore the farm and paint them as heroes.

The story is about ginning up public outrage against bonuses

That is what I was trying to say originally.

The Dems couldn't have played this any better even if they tried. This "public outrage" is a gift for the rats.

I wasn't arguing. I got your point, and it was an excellent one. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

No worries, I didn’t think you were.

You made my point better than I did. I was just jumping aboard your verbiage.

I`ve been saying this for days now, even posted a thread on making this a theme for our tea-parties but there don`t seem to be many takers. What, a little populist twist makes some conservatives cringe?

How about helping them out by organizing an AIG bonus gate, tea-party in your area?

If the complicity of the lame stream media in helping to spin this is pissing you off then do something else besides just tapping on keyboards.Oh,I know, things like going out and organizing street level protests are useless, right? There comes a time when ALL this blogging MUST be backed up by some physical action,no one here is saying getting violent or abusive!Just show you have as much balls as the rent a crowd rats that show up for their staged events. What do you think, can you handle that,or is that too much to freaking ask of you?
