Tedisco, Murphy campaign getting costly (House of Rep vacancy left by Gillibrand)

The race to fill a Capital Region congressional seat has turned into a multimillion-dollar affair.

And the local news media is loving it.

Republican Jim Tedisco, of Glenville, and Democrat Scott Murphy, of Glens Falls, are the two major-party candidates competing to fill the vacant seat in the state’s sprawling 20th congressional district, which covers part or all of six area counties. U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) had held the seat before she was appointed to fill Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat.

Through campaign donations and personal loans, Tedisco and Murphy each raised more than $1 million from Jan. 1 through March 11. Combined, the two have spent $988,000 on media advertising.

Libertarian candidate Eric Sundwall is also running in the election, to be held March 31. He’s raised $8,764.

Tedisco, who is the state Assembly Minority Leader, has raised $835,312 in campaign contributions. He also loaned $200,000 to his campaign.

After expenditures, Tedisco has $467,561 remaining in his bank account.

Another race to watch. Pelosi and Obama need to win this one, and we need for them to not win it.

Oh, please! If the Republican is a RINO rather than a Conservative it would hardly matter who wins.

Jim Tedisco is a pro-life, pro-second amendment conservative. Why would you say such a ridiculous thing?

Actually . . it does. If these early replacement (mid term) elections go Democrat that is a signal the region supports Obama's politics. If the opposite occurs, say . . . a Repub is elected . . that is an good slap in the face for Obama style politics.

This special election has become a referendum on Obama and his economic policies.

Nancy Pelosi and Obambi are sending in their helpers and former Pres Clinton is campainging to bolster the Dem candidate Scott Murphy. The Repubs are sending in Michael Steele, Rudy Giuliani, and House Minority Leader John Boehner.

Problem is, this district shouldn’t have sent a Democrat before, it’s a Republican one (it only went rodent in ‘06 because the incumbent Republican was damaged and the ‘08 candidate was a RINO flake). Winning actual Democrat districts in specials, such as the upcoming vacancy of the Tauscher seat in CA will be the real challenge and signal of areas being upset with the amateur-hour destructiveness of the False Messiah.

Judged by the junk coming in the mail, I’d say Murphy is outspending Tedisco.

Wow!

Scott Murphy is making a big deal about Tedisco not supporting the economic stimulus plan, which is another reason to support Tedisco. I heard the majority of voters in the 20th district like the stimulus plan, so maybe they’re not as conservative as they used to be. People come and go.

Anyway, it might be good to write a letter to the editor about the negativity of the pseudo economic stimulus plan, if you live in the 20th district.

Here’s some ammunition:

“includes $30 million for wetlands restoration that the Obama administration intends to spend in the San Francisco Bay Area to protect, among other things, the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi represents the city of San Francisco and has previously championed preserving the mouse’s habitat in the Bay Area.”
