I took a charting and navigating course with the Coast Guard, we learned how to use dead reckoning, use the Compass Rose to chart (true north vs magnetic north and all that stuff). They hold these courses for free, we’ve done some sailing so we decided to take them. Very worth while I thought.
I still use dead reckoning even with all the new gadgets out there and he keep a very accurate log people say im crazy but i have never gotten lost or had to call for help
