The New Orleans' fuel tank was ruptured in the crash, causing a spill of 25,000 gallons (90,000 litres) of diesel.

Remember when oil spills were given in barrels? It seems to me that the press wants to use smaller units of measure to make the spill seem larger.

595 barrels

25,000 gallons

90,000 liters

Why not keep going?

3,200,000 ounces

25,600,000 drams

90,000,000 ml

90,000,000 ml of toxic chemically treated oil spilled from the US warship into the narrow straights causing unrepeatable damage the the delicate ecosystem.

is that better?

Or, howsabout 2,271,000,000 drops? (based on 90840 drops/gallon) Funny thing is, let's talk about a TRILLION for a moment. If we look at Obama's TRILLION DOLLAR spending spree as drops of spilt oil at a dollar a drop, he spilled 11,008,366.4 gallons! Of our oil, er, water, uh, fuel. Yeah. But spilling 25,000 gallons is still pretty bad.
