The case of the missing AIG bonus limits has become a tale of political intrigue and Democratic infighting that could threaten the re-election chances of a top senator and the credibility if not the career of one of President Obama's top advisers.
As the House passed new legislation Thursday to crack down on the outrage-inspiring bonuses, Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, the Banking Committee chairman, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner engaged in finger-pointing about who was responsible for Congress' failure to prevent them in the first place.
Dodd, a five-term senator, was already facing a tough re-election contest in 2010. He says the Obama administration insisted he modify his proposal to rein in bonuses at companies getting billions of dollars in financial bailouts so that it would only apply to payments agreed to in the future thus clearing the way for the AIG payouts.

“You are being very unfair, they never read it. Besides its Bush that likes the rich, not Obama. Obama understands the Walmart employee. My heart tells me it was Bushes fault and Obama is really upset about it”
Disclaimer : A liberal Simulatiom of brain cells
Obama can't say he didn't know, he signed the bill.
Democrats are falling all over each other blaming each other for the AIG disaster over which they and they alone presided over. Great political theatre!
>> A liberal Simulation of brain cells
My hat’s off to you, FRiend! What patience you have! How long did you have to search before you found one or two liberal brain cells to use as models for your simulation?
While I’m really enjoying the DhimmiRat on DhimmiRat feeding frenzy, the sad fact is that the real culprit in ALL of this is the voting public that elected this slime ball and his criminal cabal.
It’s time to take back the country.
1. Term limits; one for Senators, three for Reps, and two for President.
2. Balanced Budget Amendment to the US Constitution
3. Line item Veto for the President (a real President)
4. Voting rights only to those people who are not on some type of government dole; welfare, food stamps, rent subsidies, medicaid, etc.
5. Enable FairTax and eliminate the current income tax model and the IRS.
6. Rein in government spending by requiring that Federal government be returned to its Constitutional limits and forcing compliance with the 10th Amendment.
It’s fun to watch them eat their own.
It really is amazing to me the ability of the electorate to focus in on inconsequential minutia to the detriment of the larger picture. The bonuses are really a non issue compared to the trillions congress is misappropriating.
LOL, I knew that was coming!
Remember Cindi Sheenan? Think she has 2 brain cells? how about Megn McCain? No fat jokes please! She is trying to convert chubbie California Schwarzenegger groupies to R party and they go very upset last time.
That Balanced Budget Amendment should have the following language:
If the Budget is not balanced all Representatives and Senators and all those on their payroll (aides and security personnel etc.) lose their paycheck and all benefits, this goes for the President and his staff and cabinet as well. If they do not balance the budget within 30 days then they all are immediately ousted from office and we have special elections to replace them (NO Governor appointees).
Further if any citizen's tax bill exceeds 25% of his total income then the same penalties from above apply (loss of benefits and after thirty days ousted from office)
Whaaa?
You mean they are not blaming Bush?
Sounds as though the Big 0 is too busy giving the memo of the day to the lib talking heads to talk to his own staff about unimportant things like mega buck bonuses to businesses. Then he says the bonus receivers should give the money back. I wonder why Obama’s communist handlers didn’t tell him that the government could be sued for his gaffe.
I’m lovin’ it personally. Although, I ain’t loving what they’re doing to the country. :(
To me they simply amplify what is exactly so outrageous about the entire process. Bonus given by private money? I could care less. It ain’t my money. But when money is taken from me forcefully and given to some idiot who ran the company into the ground? That pisses me off, I’m sorry.
The whole kit-n-kaboodle of them belong in Leavenworth; I’ not talking about in CGSC either.
The Congressmen who voted for this are the ones to blame. Not AIG.
