BURBANK, Calif. President Barack Obama has told Jay Leno he was stunned when he learned of the bonuses that bailed-out insurance giant AIG was paying its employees.
Obama told "The Tonight Show" host the payments raise moral end ethical problems and the administration's going to do everything it can to get them back.
But Obama added the bigger problem is the culture that allowed traders to claim them. He says that's got to change if the economy is to recover.

And the frickin SOB didn’t mention the bonuses that HE HIMSELF RECEIVED AS A US SENATOR LAST YEAR??????
NYAG Cuomo warns nine banks about bonus payments

Cuomo asked the banks to provide the information by November 5.
Earlier this month, AIG promised to recover executive payments and other compensation, cancel perks and institute reforms after Cuomo threatened legal action over its controversial spending.
“Cuomo demands detailed information regarding bonus pool allocations from the boards of directors of the nine banks,” his office said in a statement accompanying copies of the letters.
Cuomo objected to “extravagant” payments to AIG executives who ran the company into near-collapse, including a $5 million cash bonus and $15 million “golden parachute” to former CEO Martin Sullivan earlier this year.
A $34 million bonus was also designated for the former head of the AIG Financial Products Unit, Joseph Cassano, whose unit generated the bulk of the firm’s losses.
Of course he and Geithner knew about them. They DEMANDED the change in the measure to MAKE SURE AIG got their bonuses.
THIS is what is so frustrating!! His administration ORDERED them to be carried out and NOW he is outraged??

You SO beat me to that! Had it all ready to go but NOOOooooo.
Bravo Vaquero!
If there was ever any doubt, it should be clear Obama is interested in fanning the flames of class-warfare.
This is a general statement...applies to all markets (not just AIG) and marketmakers. Is it the White House's right to dictate how people are compensated.....NO!
This is a Manufactured Crisis...the objective is POWER!
This guy is an insufferable liar
Bump, and bump your post #16.
I’m ‘stunned’ the US Treasury is bailing out auto unions.
Geithner should cancel that condo offer in Chevy Chase.

BURBANK, California (AP) — President Barack Obama says his embattled treasury chief, Timothy Geithner, is doing an “outstanding job.”
In a taped appearance on “The Tonight Show”, he told host Jay Leno on Thursday that Geithner is a smart guy who’s been handed an incredibly full plate. But he’s handling it all with grace and good humor.
LOL after Osama errr I mean Obama pushes for the crap errr I mean Tarp 2 to past.
And financed him.
This, "I was stunned" business isn't going to score him any points in the credibility or competency departments.
She post #36.
