The proposed changes (HB 300) to the Human Relations Act should be problematic to all people, because language like this has been used in other states to subvert First Amendment religious rights.
There have been many examples of religious groups being forced (illegally) to undermine their beliefs or abandon charity efforts because of laws and reckless judicial rulings like HB300.
Churches sued because they wouldn't allow gay marriages. Churches who had to abandon adoption ministries because they wouldn't place with same-sex couples. The list goes on.
When did the government become the thought police?
When were the states and judges given the right to subvert the Constitution?
While the states are in economic trouble, we have politicians spending time conjuring up ways to trample on our rights and beliefs while we are not looking.
Oppose HB 300 and inform your colleague what it really is: Illegal tampering with our rights!
Memo to self: Time to invest in precious medals.
