roanoke,va - WASHINGTON (AP) - Now it can be told: The mysterious petty theft that President Barack Obamas new computer chief committed at age 21 was shoplifting four dress shirts worth $134 from J.C. Penney. A 1996 Montgomery County, Md., police report obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday under a public records law shows Vivek Kundra was observed by a security guard putting the mens shirts into a shopping bag and leaving the store without paying. Sgt. Tom Stanton wrote that Kundra was arrested after a brief foot chase and the property was recovered

My .02
I have been telling my 3 sons since they were young, don’t ever hand me age as an excuse. God himself decided that the Virgin Mary was old enough to be the mother of Jesus at the age of 15. You were created with an innate ability to know right from wrong, a conscience that has been formed by life, and enough character to do it.
The public school system takes a huge amount of the school day to teach that character counts, so don’t tell me that by 21, a person can have a youthful indescretion that is so blatantly obvious. Character flaws are red flags for a reason.
I watched part of an old Billy Graham crusade on television last night.
He spoke about our God-given conscience and that the Holy Spirit speaks to us through our conscience.
He said this was proof that there was a divine creator, because even children know right from wrong. They have a strong sense of justice.
I’m all for forgiving a sinner, certainly.
But that does not mean someone should be rewarded with such a powerful position in government.
I believe to serve in government your record should be held to a higher standard.
I don’t give him a pass. Shoplifting at age 12 is one thing. Shoplifting at age 21 is another matter.
You're forgetting the transaction fee. A liberal will give the undershirt off another's back and keep the shirt for themselves. Helping those they look down on with contempt is just socially acceptable cover to take from those they look up at with envy.
Shoplifting at age 21? Four shirts? Ran when caught?
I wonder if his resume included “Experienced in five finger discounts”.
OK, let’s review:
1) 21 years old - Old enough to know better
2) Dress shirts at JC Penneys - What, Brooks Brothers wasn’t close enough?
3) A foot chase - He tried to run away? How silly is that?
Hey, that's a nice shirt you got there, where did you get it?
If I could change my FReeper name to Schadenfreude, I'd do it in an instant. Maybe I'll settle for a keyword...
:-)
I agree. Shoplifting shows a lack of integrity. Those working for him in DC were paying bribes, thus he surrounds himself with people with no integrity. (of course we could say the same of his boss).
Calling me names isn't helping your cause, but you're too clueless to understand that as well. There's plenty of reasons why foreign born citizens are scrutinized more for US Government positions, and this guy is turning into a poster child for them despite your endless defenses. The fact that Obama's second choice was from India too, as I've already pointed out to you despite your constant whining I'm being unfair, is another issue deserving of criticism, whether you'll ever understand that either.
Racial profiling is of benefit in catching terrorists too.
And if Obama was born in Africa he doesn't meet the minimum qualifications to be President either.
That's not bashing immigrants that's stating facts. Time you learn the difference before you make a bigger fool of yourself than you already have defending Obama's new CIO.
You know...I was wondering the same thing myself. Why hasn’t anyone just lifted it?
Hummm....A computer chief with a record. Wonder if he is good a forging documents like a birth certificate?
Well-said. It is indicative of a corrupt mindset---one we do not need in government.
This guy has a troubled history.
Keep in mind, the police weren't just hanging around waiting to give chase----they were apparently called in.
Means the store knew he was there, that he had done this before; the store was on high alert for another shoplift.
A police record for shoplifing is not usually done for first-time offenders.
There's more to this guy's history that has yet to be revealed.
Didn’t he once play football for Florida State? LOL!
