Greg Gutfeld takes the challenge: Can Fox produce a show that anticipates a SNL parody of Fox? The panel discusses the question: should the US invade Canada and produces something almost as hilarious as the old Half Hour News Hour.
UPDATE:
The clip in question is a sequence of goofs about the feebleness, uselessness and absurdity of the Canadian Armed Forces. Why would I call that dumb? Here's why, courtesy of CanWest News. Sorry I disrespected your show, RedEye fans - but you disrespected the dead. --David Frum

It's all done tongue-in-cheek. None of it is serious. Including this clip.
It's satire, and funnier than SNL by far!
> I know my Canadian military history and I still dont think much of their country.
Fair enough.
If not our warriors, what aspect of our great Nation do you “not think much of”, then? Is it the weather? The food? The politicians? (if the latter, I couldn’t really blame you much)
Or is it the Ice Hockey? We try to be fair and lend your American teams a few of our good players, so it surely can’t be that?
It can’t be the fact that we speak more languages than you Americans do? It’s only French, for Pete’s Sakes! It’s not like we’re all bilingual with a prestigious language like Latin or Greek or Chinese...
And anyway, how else would we communicate with our invincible Royal 22me Regiment — the legendary “Vandoos” — which operates in French?
Were you in the Airborne from 78-81?
You guys had the second worst coffee ever!
VA in NJ was worst.
There just isn’t much for a conservative to like or respect about Canada, in our history Canada has traditionally been the place for our left, our cowards, and our anti Americans to flee to.
It seems to be a pleasant place, for people that like that sort of thing.
> I took a measure of them when they wouldnt allow our nuclear ships in.
Probably the world’s most tragic case of Friendly Fire.
New Zealand has, for a very long time, been the home of the world’s largest Polynesian city, Auckland. It is a longstanding tradition amongst the Polynesians that it isn’t nice to drop nuclear bombs on their island Paradises — which is something that France persisted in doing on Mururoa Atoll long after the US were finished with Kwajalein and Bikini Atoll...
In my view, New Zealand’s anti-nuclear stance is a direct reaction to France’s persistence in nuclear testing at Mururoa.
The unfortunate side-effect is that American nuclear-powered vessels get caught up in all of that. With the added complication of America having a “neither confirm nor deny” policy on whether any given ship is carrying nuclear arms, American naval vessels — whether nuclear or not — have been unable to visit us.
All of this was an unfortunate reason to alter ANZUS and keep American vessels out of our waters. I think that, given time, the anti-nuclear stance will be modified for commonsense, once cooler heads prevail.
My service is early 70s and then an Airborne LRRP Guard unit 83 to 86.
The reason Canada went to Afghanstan is because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time in its history. Afghanistan is a NATO show and Canada is part of NATO.
I went through a pretty cool assault course and got my Canadian jump wings in 79.
Got $#!t faced more than once, not being used to your wicked beer!
Whoa, careful about that!!!
From the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939 to Pearl Harbor in 1941, Americans who wanted to fight Hitler took the train to Canada and enlisted in the Canadian army and Royal Canadian Air Force. Pilots especially went to Canada to fight because they could get a chance to fly.
The Canadians were in the two world wars long before we got involved.
You need to read some history, and not the Sixties revisionist kind.
Oh! if you meant Canadian Airborne I wasn’t in the Canadian Airborne.
The Canadian Airborne Forces Association is for Canadian Airborne or military jumpers from allied forces.
I was an ally.
Yes I do know the whole story. FYI: Queen Elizibeth II is the legal head of state in Canada, i.e., the Crown.
I am very familiar with it. I served with our Embassy in Tehran during the overthrow of the Shah. I was at our Embassy during the first takeover on February 14, 1979. I left March 31, 1979.
“You need to read some history, and not the Sixties revisionist kind.”
Gee I knew that. I have had a friend that was one of those pilots.
What sixties revisionist history quoting did I do?
You might be reacting against the all-pervasive Toronto which, admittedly, does take alot of getting used to. British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and (surprisingly) Quebec are all great places for conservatives.
(switching hats)
Here in New Zealand, Australia is the place where New Zealanders tend to flee to. One of our more clever Prime Ministers observed that this tended to raise the average IQ in both countries.
...in our history Canada has traditionally been the place for our left, our cowards, and our anti Americans to flee to.
Traditionally? Only if tradition begins in 1966.
In the Sixties what you stated was true, but that was an anomaly. Before the Sixties, Canada was the place where Americans went to fight our enemies in the world wars by showing solidarity with our British cousins.
The conversations that I have in person with Canadians are very similar to the conversations that I used to have with the French Special Forces in France, we all agree that their countries are weak and liberal.
No one seems to be talking about the claim that a nation could shutdown it’s military for a year, what is the truth about that?
“Traditionally? Only if tradition begins in 1966.”
Read some history try 1776.
See my post #32. FYI: Iraq was/is part of the WOT. Canada's pitiful defense forces couldn't have mustered enough people to participate in both operations. The UK and Australia did along with Spain and a number of others.
Bottom line, what the f*** difference does it make? Is Canada's commitment to the war on terrorism diminished in your pea brain because they chose to take a pass on Iraq?
Canada has not had as much skin in the game as others, especially the US. Canada didn't participate in Vietnam either. Canada's defense forces have dwindled down to next to nothing. They have relied on the US to defend them while just paying 1.1% of GDP on defense.
There is growing concern about Canada's immigration and asylum policies and the risk they pose to our national security. Immigration Policy and the Terrorist Threat in Canada and the United States
I suggest you read the report, pea brain. Canada needs to be more committed in the WOT and gets its act together.
> No one seems to be talking about the claim that a nation could shutdown its military for a year, what is the truth about that?
Jeez, that’s a new one on me. Hadn’t heard about that, and I sure hope it isn’t true: if it is, there would be no better time for America to realize its Manifest Destiny to become a continental power.
A country without a military is not a country at all. Aside from good manners there would be nothing to stop the US from annexing the Canadian provinces outright — save only our Mounties, and I doubt there is enough room in all the lockups in Canada to hold even one US Division.
I have often speculated that the annexation of Canada by the US would happen in my lifetime. I hadn’t thought it might happen quite so soon.
