Japan on Wednesday sealed a deal to buy emissions rights from Ukraine, marking its first deal via a government-to-government trading scheme under the Kyoto Protocol and paving the way for another similar deal soon.
Kiev will deliver 30 million tonnes of so-called Assigned Amount Units (AAUs) to Japan, with the sale's proceeds earmarked for six specific environmental measures in Ukraine, including renewable energy projects, the Japanese government said in a statement.
The other five areas are energy conservation, utilisation of coal bed methane, shift to cleaner fuels, pollution reduction and reduction of other greenhouse gases than carbon dioxide.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Japan's tax payers fleeced in the Cap and Trade scam. Meanwhile, the Chinese are laughing, between coughs, all the way to the bank.

What absolute nonsense. I'm going to create a web site and advertise my own carbon credits. Pay me $10000 and I will sign a contract promising not to fly on an airplane for the entire calendar year of 2009. For another $10000, I will refrain from firing up my barbecue for the year. I am also able to provide a methane credit for the low, low price of $5000, which will result in my not eating Mexican, Indian, or Thai food for the year.
These valuable carbon credits are now available to assuage the consciences of environmental kooks everywhere. Call soon! At prices like these, they won't last!

Something that's completely ignored by EVERYONE is what's probably the #1 contributor to both particulate emissions, as well as "greenhouse gasses:" VOLCANOES!
I just saw something on TV last night, talking about how Krakatoa, which blew the entire island apart in the late 1880s, has been erupting since 1927, and it appears that it may be getting ready to do something similar again.

Then there's Mt. Redoubt in Alaska, which has lots of scientists worried:

And this morning, I saw on Fox & Friends, that off the coast of Tonga, a volcano had begun erupting as well.

I have a feeling that just these 3 volcanoes dwarf everything that humans AND our animals put out.
