Looks like Winter disgraced his office by honoring Murtha as he was on the way out the door.

Secretary of the Navy Farewell Message to the Department, 13 March 2009

“As I relinquish my duties as Secretary of the Navy, I count myself blessed for having had the opportunity to serve as your secretary. I have held many interesting jobs but no period in my professional career can compare to the experiences I have had in this position.
Over the past three years, I have had the privilege of observing the daily commitment of our men and women who truly make our Naval service great. In challenging environments like Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Guantanamo, and across the Atlantic and Pacific, your service makes a difference every day. I have great confidence that your ongoing service will continue to do our Navy, Marine Corps, and Nation proud.
Every time I meet with Sailors and Marines, I come away impressed by the tremendous capability and flexibility of our warfighters to accomplish the mission, no matter what the challenge. You are the secret of our success, and observing you in action has given me great faith in the promise of your great generation. If our Nation is led by individuals of the talent, devotion, and integrity of our service members, we will not only survive, but prosper in the years to come.
I reflect on my tenure as your secretary and realize it has been an exceptionally unique period in my life, and likely to remain so. I am honored to have served you as your secretary. Thank you for your service to our Nation. May God bless our Navy, our marine corps, and the United States of America.”

Donald C. Winter
Secretary of the Navy

Such are the vicissitudes of political life. Sometimes you find yourself so close to excrement, you get some on your person.

RC2 asks the critically important question...

The real question is.........who is giving the Military orders to do this?

My occasionally suspicious minds eye replays the scene of Mister Murtha begging and hounding Marxist Obama's peeps for the award.

IIRC, there is some opinion alleging possible fraud re how Mister Murtha opbained his service decorations, anyway; and, Mister Murtha has not (again, IIRC) released his full service record.

"I just don’t have any words."
There are times where we all could echo that feeling. Murtha is such a disgrace to the United States Marine Corps. it is not funny in the least. His mind has gone to the evil side since he left the Corps.. Honor no longer exists in his soul by the actions he has been involved in over the many years.

Marine. As you are more aware then I, due to your honorable service as a Marine. This clown is a damn whore. To think he would IF he had the slightest awareness of what our honorable Marines have done in Afghanistan and Iraq and elsewhere over the years, under very hard conditions on many occasions to have allowed the JAG and the NCIS to railroad a few real honorable heros and imprison them for things that should not even remotely be considered crimes under the rules of engagement within a counter insurgency operation and SASO, is beyond despicable. It is a criminal offense.

he's a politician...you can't trust these clowns ESPECIALLY when they spend their enitire adult life in D.C.
the town is corrupt...always has been and always will be... and it corrupts practically every politician who goes there.
we've only had one decent POTUS in the last 100 years, Reagan... and I can't think of one decent senator in the place...TERM LIMITS is the ONLY solution and there is very little chance of that occurring...I'm beat...good night!
