I am so sick of this nonsense. By what right? If nothing else, why is it the federal government's business to bother stuff that is grown and stays in-state? If Monsanto is lobbying for this, let them regulate the devil out of Monsanto and the imports.

Hybrid seeds were always a way to control the farmer since they produce a plant that doesn't produce viable seed. A fellow in the upper midwest lost his farm last year for planting his own seeds that did not come from the folks that had contracted to supply his seed stock (Monsanto I think, could have been Con-Agra).

I remember back in the fifties, Michigan State inspectors coming to our farm in the UP of Michigan to make certain that Dad had not over planted his wheat allotment. He had, of course, but they were shown the oats and couldn't tell the difference.

At some point the people of America will have to grow enough backbone to take a stand. If we don't, vegetables aren't the only thing we will be missing!
