Believe me, I’m not excusing Ingraham. And it isn’t just with Meghan McCain that she does this. I’ve had to tune out Ingraham on more than one occasion because she really does act like a high school “mean girl” at times. Sometimes it is because it is someone with whom she disagrees politically. Other times, it is just to be “funny”. I remember when she went into this anecdote about getting a pedicure and being repulsed that -gasp- she had to look at the fat hairy feet of the man sitting next to her.

I’m sorry, but the attacks on people’s looks aren’t becoming from a conservative, Catholic mom. She should leave that to the late night comedians. When she gets on her soapbox about how misguided the values of our girls have become, I want to give her a high five. And then she turns around and does her petty act and I am so disappointed in her.

Having said all that, the fact that she has “opened the door” with personal attacks, doesn’t mean we should respond in kind. I wouldn’t mock her looks and I do think, whether it is fair or not, the cancer affords her some immunity in that department. It is just a shame that motherhood and cancer has caused her to be more mature about such things. If anything, I would have hoped those major life changes would have made her more gracious.
