Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced the creation of a youth environmental corps tasked with protecting California's verdant ecology, while training for future employment in the emerging "green economy."

At least 1,000 young Californians in the program, aged 16 to 24, will be paid with funds from President Barack Obama's recently-approved federal stimulus plan, Schwarzenegger said in a statement.

"President Obama and I share similar priorities right now when it comes to helping the economy rebound and creating a greener California and America," Schwarzenegger said in a statement.

the jobs are targeted toward youth considered "at-risk" of failing academically, foundering in the work place or getting into trouble with the law.

Great, give some misfit youts a mandate, a uniform and some indoctrination in what's socially correct and we have the SchwarzenbamaJugend.

“Little Red Guard” had already been used. Ahnold has to establish “Little Green Guard”. Too bad I'm red-green colorblind. Won't be able to tell the difference.

My dad called it We Piddle Around. He told me a couple of the jokes about WPA.

How many WPA workers does it take to mow a lawn?
Seven. Two coming, two going, two watching, one mowing.

And there was the story about the WPA worker that was seriously injured when termites ate his shovel out from under him.

Austrian? Who are you talking about? Everyone knows that Hitler was German and Beethoven was Austrian. Just ask an Austrian.

He can’t?

Do you have any PROOF that he’s NOT natural-born?

If that was sarcasm, then I apologize for the following.

Hitler was born on 20 April 1889 in Braunau-am-Inn, Austria-Hungary.

It was sarcasm.

Ludwig van Beethoven was born on 16 December 1770 in Bonn Germany.

It's a joke about Austrians. They like to tell themselves that Hitler was German and Beethoven was Austrian. It was going around a number of years ago when for whatever reason the Austrian/Nazi connection was in the spotlight. Some think the Austrians are in denial about any connections they had with The Nazis.
