GOP strategists and party leaders are increasingly worried that the partys run of bad news over the last month and a half is set to continue this week as the Republican National Committee (RNC) prepares to release what are expected to be markedly low fundraising numbers on Friday.
The RNC has consistently outraised the Democratic National Committee on a month-by-month basis. Observers say that streak is likely to end this month.
. . . . .
Steele already had a high bar to meet; in January, under former Chairman Robert Mike Duncan, the committee raised more than $13.1 million, including about $7 million in transfers from Sen. John McCains (R-Ariz.) presidential campaign.
. . . . .
The majority of RNC donors hand over smaller checks, largely as a result of the committees vaunted mail and phone programs. But Steele jeopardized the partys standing with those donors as well, thanks to a public spat with radio host Rush Limbaugh and a flub on a question about abortion, which drew criticism from major voices in the social conservative movement.
Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the RNC and they want nothing to do with the RNC and when you call them asking for money they hang up on you, Limbaugh said in a March 2 monologue directed specifically at Steele.

Looks like folks who thought they were supporting Palin ended up supporting...the RNC and the RINOs. |

They are not getting another dime from me! Stinking RINOS!
we need to defund the RNC and set up our own organizations to do the job.
Show me someone I can believe in and I will support that person. The RNC has gone astray and refuses to get back to basics. Unitl that happens they dont need my money.
Act like conservatives and republicans and I’ll gladly resume supporting the RNC, but if you’re going to act like democrats and be afraid to criticize, then I’ll continue to hold back my money.
If Mr.Steele had just kept his trap shut or thought about what he says before he says it, the RNC would not be in the financial shape the are in. His first fund raising letter to me and others, looked good, no complaints,,,,then he went and stuck his foot in it about Rush and has gone on to say other stupid things since then. I for one, am disappointed. I read that first introductory letter of his and found nothing objectionable and had high hopes he’d clean house at the RNC. Not gonna happen.
It is something how quickly this has turned around. It was just 4-6 years ago that the situations of the GOP and DEMS were completely reversed.
I would suggest people who would like to donate to conservatives, but do not want to give money to the current RNC, to pick out some 2010 contenders going against some of the Blue Dog Dems and donate to them. Picking off some Dems in redstates or red districts in 2010 is the critical issue IMO. If the RNC doesn’t have it together, by pass them.
I stopped giving to the RNC awhile ago. I've been giving to a PAC set up by Sen. DeMint that only helps conservatives.

I'm waiting for a conservative in the House to set up a similar PAC to contribute to them as well.
It's to bad we don't have Cheney as RNC Chairman.
After the 1919 World Series of elections what did they expect?
Perhaps they can go to Obama and Geithner for a bailout.
Why am I not one bit surprised? I knew from the very beginning that supporting Palin wouldn't help the conservative cause. After all, she was picked by Juan McCain, for cryin' out loud!
Supporting Palin is fine. Supporting the McCain-Palin ticket meant that, well, you had to support McCain if you wanted to support Palin.
And, supporting McCain is never acceptable.
How much do you want to bet their solution for this will be more earmarks and more "bibendoverforobamaship"?
LMAO. They wont get a penny from me until they purge they RINOs Liberals like Mclame, Specter, Gramnesty, et al.
until the Republicans can adopt a conservative agenda to broadcast and support, and present a united front, that is the way it is going to be.
We must stop knocking Republicans who are not 100% with the program. Find something good to say, there must be something.
So are you suggesting that we ought to support RINOs like Specter, Collins, Snowe, Voinovich, Martinez, McCain, and Graham?
I will knock any elected official who's not conservative or libertarian, regardless of his or her party affiliation.
I heard just after I finally sent money to Palin McCain that the window had closed for the Pres election and my check would go to another fund. I damn near stopped payment and I am so sick of RNC phone calls that I am making up outrageous stories like my mother was just taken to the hospital and to stop the phone calls. It hasn’t worked so far. Is there any way to block the calls like you can for all other fund raising.
BTW...my mother has been dead since 1988...
