Not long ago, after a string of especially bad days for the Obama administration, a veteran Democratic pol approached me with a pained look on his face and asked, "Do you think they know what they're doing?"
The question caught me off guard because the man is a well-known Obama supporter. As we talked, I quickly realized his asking suggested his own considerable doubts.
Yes, it's early, but an eerily familiar feeling is spreading across party lines and seeping into the national conversation. It's a nagging doubt about the competency of the White House.
It was during George W. Bush's second term that the I-word - incompetence - became a routine broadside against him. The Democratic frenzy of Bush-bashing had not spent itself when a larger critique emerged, one not confined by partisan boundaries.

They should of actually thought of all of this before they voted for him.

Well, at least we elected a black person president. He is half white, raised by white grandparents in multiracial Hawaii, and educated at some of our best private schools. Yep, he is down with the struggle.

The charge of incompetence covered the mismanagement of Iraq, the response to Hurricane Katrina and the economic meltdown. By the time Bush left, the charge tipped the scales to where most of America, including many who had been supporters or just sympathetic, viewed him as a failed President. -Michael GoodwinNot I. Each of those "mismanagements" were judged regarding problems with enormous difficulty factors. Group-think inevitably finds someone to blame. Fine.
To be fair, the economic meltdown presents the same difficulty to the new President. It is too soon to judge outcomes, but it is fair to say the administration has already directed astronomical amounts of spending to money sinks that cannot possibly help the economic picture. Is that competence?

To the Obama supporters, be careful what you wish for you just might get it. And now we are all going to get it.

2 people that I had lunch with today, that voted for him called him a Communist. I said to them Gee, it took you this long to figure it out.
What did those people think he was when they voted for him? A free market capitalist? Are those two people just idiots, or were they just your typical over-emotional, tingle-down-my-leg, koolaid drinkers on election day? Any idea?

I had a liberal professor buddy call me tonight and apologize to me for doubting what I said about hussein before the election. I should not call him liberal, because he says he is no longer of that persuasion. He and his wife have lost about 2 million so far. Pain is a great educator!

Jury is still out for me on whether he's incompetent or a Marxist. Probably a combination of the two. An incompetent Marxist. He's not Lenin, but even an incompetent can ruin the country. He just has to occupy the White House. And thanks to a majority of the voters, he's there.

It’s been a busy afternoon, heck that means you’ve been busy, Nachum! Thanks for everything. This is an important task you’ve taken on.
I’m keeping an eye on the G20/One world currency talks and the H.R. 1388/The Give Act which will be presented to the House tomorrow.
