Opinion: Buyers Remorse, Christian Obama Supporter Deeply Concerned
Catholic Online ^ | 3/17/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Many Evangelical Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox Christians did support then candidate Obama. Some observers say that the support from the Christian community secured his election to the Presidency. I believed that Christians who bought the “abortion reduction” claims would be sorry. I feared those on the “religious left” were making the same mistake that many on the “religious right” made in years past. They were being wooed by one Party and would be used by that same Party. The outspoken support of “Catholics United” and “Catholics in Alliance” for Obama nominees such as Kathleen Sebelius is inexplicable to me. They have now walked down the same road they once criticized and simply become captive to the other major Political Party.

However, something intriguing seems to be happening. It started as a murmur and now seems to have evolved into a real case of “Buyer’s Remorse” among some of the President’s Christians supporters. On Monday, March 16, 2009, one of them, David Gushee, a Professor of Christian Ethics at Mercer University and the President of ‘Evangelicals for Human Rights’ wrote an opinion piece entitled “Mr. President, we need more than lip service” for USA Today. He began this candid, well written and sad piece with these words: “Centrist evangelicals like me embraced Barack Obama’s campaign pledge to help bridge the gaps of the culture wars. Instead, the president’s short record on abortion-related issues is familiar— and disappointing — rather than revolutionary.”

We gain access to Caesar in order to affect policy; we hold onto access even if it involves compromising some of what we want in policy; in the end, we can easily forget what policies we were after in the first place.

What were they thinking when this was the only evidence of Obama's religion?

A lot of hopey changey voters will have buyer's remorse as this administration wears on. So too will many see what an empty suit BO is as he is forced to speak sans teleprompter. The presstitutes will do their best but can only do so much...

I have no respect for these idiots with buyers remorse. You caused it. Don’t look to anyone else to pat you on the back for your damn foolishness.

These so called religious voters that supported Obama have blood on their hands.

Why would anyone professing to be a Christian support someone who doesn't go to church, doesn't tithe, doesn't donate to charity, and doesn't tell the truth?

I'm sorry but you have to be pretty stupid to buy what Obama was selling. There was plenty of evidence to accurately define what Obama was all about and none of it was Christian oriented before the election.

*yawn*

Another one. Another article full of wailing and gnashing of teeth. These so-called Christians who were duped by The One. Sorry, not buying it. These people let pride get in the way of their beliefs — i.e., it was more important to them to go along and be popular than to stand up for what they knew was true of this fraudulent Marxist. Not for one second do I believe they “didn’t know” what they were pulling the lever for.

Idiot. By the fruit that they bear shall you know them. Obvious before the election, Obama’s fruits are no different now than then. Idiots.

54% of the Catholic voters are and many of them that I’ve met still think that they made the right decision.

Anyone stupid enough to fall for candidate Obama's BS should be a professor of McDonald's Studies, and that's about it.

Obama’s success is rooted in the stupidity of the American people.

I don’t care to listen to their whining now....90% of them will vote to re-elect him anyway.

I have zero sympathy for any of these people. Obama’s hard left ideology was apparent from day one to anyone who had eyes to see.

Well... maybe they forgot about the part where it says "Thou shall not murder". Or maybe they hadn't gotten that far in The Bible yet?

It doesn't seem like it's really that big a deal. Possibly there's some of the more liberal denominations where murdering an unborn child, the most innocent and defenseless amongst us, is hunky-dory.
