Fine. But we could still tell them to “sell sand”, rather than holding us hostage over our oil supply as they do now.

Could the Arabs hold the U.S. hostage over oil; if the U.S. drilled it’s own oil supplies, rather than locking them up? (Hint: that’s a rhetorical question.)

Most will not, but all we need to do is to educate one in ten of those who are in the cult.

At an unidentified office in my area a member of the left wing cult was bemoaning the “fact” that one snowstorm and a bunch of loonies were saying that there was nothing to global warming.

Even when I presented one of the global warming fanatics with a lot of articles the best I got was that there was another side that disagreed with his politics. He said it was more complicated than that. They are like cult members. This is our society, we have to resist.

Scientists DO get to vote on funding (that's how it works, and that's mostly bad).

Scientists DON'T get to vote on reality. Reality is INDEPENDENT of both hypotheses and received opinion. It is what it is.

It can be clarified (or obscured) by iterative hypothesis testing, but the opinions of scientists have no meaning with regard to what is true. None.

You’re right. They are cult members. They are leterally brainwashed. It is extremely frustrating to even reason with them.
