What happened to the mob when prohibition was overturned? They went into other criminal activity.

Another dumb idea from the Schizophrenic.

Exactly Clint

Some folks are looking for easy answers to a situation
that has to be fought. Living arond 16 miles north from the war zone of Tijuana where the killings, beheadings, etc. go on, Drug Cartels are just part of the situation.
The corruption in the Gov., Police, Army, etc. in Mexico
has to be delt with.

Their power decreased drastically.

They went into other criminal activity.

Yeah, the same penny-ante crime they did before prohibition.

Another dumb idea from the Schizophrenic.

The late William Buckley and former NM Governor Gary Johnson are also schizos too, because they supported legalizing marijuana.

I love the mob ,, they sell gasoline without paying fed gas taxes all over NY/PA/MA/NJ depriving “O” of cash , they smuggle cigs depriving “O” of cash ,, lets re-legalize pot and let the mob expand on their pro-American anti-tax pursuits.

There was virtually no mob before prohibition - they ran the numbers game in the ghettos and was the 'welfare department' for the neighborhood. Prohibition was the engine that gave them power and money, just like the prohibition of drugs has done with cartels and the gangs that distribute them today.

If the gov't ends up prohibiting tobacco or as is now, raising the tax so high, a new 'mob' will be (is) created to handle the demand - still around 28% of adults. Then we'll have another bloated agency or the BATFE expanded to handle those 'criminals'.

Our gov't was created to protect the rights of citizens from harm from others, not from themselves.

Yeah, so what? The mob would be that much bigger if booze were still illegal. Think about it. It's just practical to legalize something that is used as much as pot is. And btw, the founding fathers grew it and there are hundreds of other uses for hemp other than messing up your head. It was even used to make uniforms for the US military at one time. Our founding fathers valued human rights and freedoms over the pseudo-security the drug warriors feel over the current unconstitutional situation.
