I listened to the first 35 minutes of what sounds like Chapter 2 of “The Give Act.”

It looks like the Senator John McCain “may help push it through,” as Hatch mentions in the hearing on the video.” DISGUSTING. Words escape me. I bet they haven’t read the Bill. Who do they think they are to dress this up and say it is all about “What you can do for your country...” crap.

The audacity is they feel in their words it is the Government’s job to “encourage our citizens to devote significant time to volunteer.”

Volunteering is a virtue we have inside all of us. I don’t need the Government to empower me to volunteer. Right?

They are kidding themselves if they think this is not creating another level of Government just to create volunteer opportunities. Hatch said, “with modest amount of Federal money.” What?

“...snip...Also on the authorizing front, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee yesterday held a very positive hearing on the Next Generation of National Service.”

I can’t tell if this is the Senate coming together to rally support for HR 1388 or if there is another piece of spending legislation coming afterwards. A Chapter 2 or not.

Anyone please jump in here and straighten me out.

Thank you.

Here is the hearing I reference-

Thanks for the video link. I don’t know if I can stand to watch all that cr@p. The fact that they are naming it after Hatch and Kennedy probably tells me all I need to know.

The people testifying in that hearing all sound like left wing socialists.

Shirley Sagawa is a Visiting Fellow at the Center for American Progress - a liberal "think tank."

The Center for American Progress is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization under U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The institute receives approximately $25 million per year in funding from a variety of sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporations. From 2003 to 2007, the center received about $15 million in grants from 58 foundations. Major individual donors include George Soros, Peter Lewis, Steve Bing, and Herb Sandler. The Center receives undisclosed sums from corporate donors.[1]

Some open government groups, such as the Sunlight Foundation and the Campaign Legal Center, criticize the Center's failure to disclose its contributors, particularly since it is so influential in appointments to the Obama administration.[2]

Funding

Center for American Progress is funded in part by individuals who are members of the Democracy Alliance.

In 2006, the Center for American Progress was given a three-year, $3,000,000 grant by George Soros' Open Society Institute to be used for "general support". [5]
