Boxer Leads Schwarzenegger, Fiorina in 2010 Senate Race
Rasmussen Reports ^ | March 12, 2009

Posted on 03/14/2009 9:11:16 AM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Democratic incumbent Barbara Boxer leads two potential Republican challengers in an early look at California’s 2010 race for the U.S. Senate.

Boxer leads California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger by 16 points, 50% to 34%. She holds a slightly smaller lead over former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina. In that match-up, Boxer picks up 47% of the vote and Fiorina 38%.

While the poll provides generally good news for Boxer, any incumbent who polls below 50% early in a campaign is considered potentially vulnerable. However, a Democrat running in a heavily Democratic state like California is often able to overcome weak poll numbers.

It’s amazing that Barbara Check Bouncer is running so poorly in such a liberal state. She’s an extremist even by their standards.

I’m not sure that the Gubernator will run. I’m surprised at the strength that Carly Fiorina is showing.

Kalifornia will not have a viable government much longer... no matter who is elected... you can't run a state on credit forever. All Kalifornians seem to be able to do is increase spending and taxes and smother business and American values.

Good! I’d rather have loony CA values tied with the DemocRATic party than Republicans. I still can’t believe I wasted my last CA vote on the Republican tax and spend liberal Governator. Glad I’m no longer living in the People’s Republic of CA.

They told me that if I voted for McClintock, we’d get a liberal big spender.

They were right.

I was wondering if he was going to do a bloomberg and go independent.

I’m not sure that his ego will allow him to just fade away.
I’m serious.

Arnold’s approval ratings have really eroded during the budget battle. Arnold is probably more interested in starring in the next Terminator film than running for anything else.

Rasmussen Reports also show Meg Whitman polling competitively against the potential Dem candidates for Governor. Could there be an anti-incumbent mood boiling for 2010?

Boxer leads California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

Here's a thought: What if Arnold wins, then becomes Speaker of the House, then the president and vice president die in a boating accident.

As next in line for the presidency, how can Arnold assume the position since he's not a natural born citizen? Will he automatically be passed up for the job?

In a RAT State what do we expect. Just part of the RAT pack.

If Arnold were running for the House that would be an issue, but he’s not. Boxer is a Senator.

This came up when Albright was confirmed SecofState, thus putting her into the line of succession -- if and when such ever was necessary, if the next person in the line is not a natural-born citizen, (or fails to meet any other Constitutional requirement, such as Bill Clinton, already served two terms as pres, let's say he is serving in a future cabinet for example), he is passed over to the next.

Fiorina is within single digits and she has a ton of money. Maybe we should give her a try.
