Amsterdam bomb alert was terror threat

There is still little information on a bomb alert that led to a major evacuation in the southeast of Amsterdam. Mayor Job Cohen has said the threat was serious, but refused to comment any further. The IKEA home furnishings store and several other stores on the Arena Boulevard are closed because of the bomb alert, and several office buildings were evacuated. The bomb threat was made to the police around 10.30, and involved several stores, which were all still closed at the time, with the exception of the IKEA breakfast restaurant......

The bomb threats against several stores in south-east Amsterdam today were of a terroristic nature.
Amsterdam police have picked up a number of suspects in connection with todays bomb threats against the stores.
At a press conference this evening, the triangle Amsterdam mayor Job Cohen; Amsterdams chief public prosecutor, Leo de Wit; and head of police, Bernard Welten announced that 7 people of Dutch nationality with a Moroccan background have been arrested for questioning.
Police have yet to determine whether the seven 6 men and 1 woman ranging in age from 19 to 64 are indeed connected to the bomb threats. Several of the people arrested have previously been involved in violent crimes. One of those arrested has a relationship with a person who was involved in the 2004 Madrid train bombing.....
