Anyone that would make a comparison in the cost to treat a dog, feed a dog, or do anything with or for a dog to that of a human being is warped. And as for paying - this is not the case of a lazy slob who ate double whoppers every day, drank fifths of Jim Beam, and smoked three packs a day complaining because they don’t have money to pay for their new liver or heart, this is a child; an innocent child with a very treatable illness and it DOES not cost the millions some of you clowns on here have implied. If that family was that poor, they would qualify for government paid health care and there are numerous orgs that would have helped that boy.

And, incidentally, there are many folks out there who are poor and have no job and they would not have treated their child this way.

Finally, I would GLADLY help to pay for treatment of people like that little boy who obviously was given monsters for parents.

Oh, and one more thing - I’d like to know how they even afforded buying food for the dog if they were not working.

Look, I’m the only one that has mentioned millions, so you are talking to me.

You are right. It doesn’t. It costs many hundreds of thousands on a best case basis, but because it would be paid for via Medicaid and “pro bono” health care, the $$ written off would be in the millions, perhaps multiple millions. Nothing is free and cancer treatment is a business just as is dog grooming (only more money in it).

Sorry the kid had to die because of crappy parents and I would have thrown a few bucks in hat for him, but try to tell me that I have to and we will fight. I have raised and have helped to raise many, many, many thousands of $$ for kids. Its what Shriners do primarily. I have volunteered and do so continuously.

That said, I think the only Hospitals that should be available for ANYONE (kid or adult) that has no money should be completely free and paid for aka Shriners and St Jude’s. The taxpayers paying even one thin cent is total BS.

Healthcare is no damn right, and I hate paying for the care of anyone that can’t cough it up. I don’t mind volunteering my time for kids, but I don’t like to be told that I have to pay for these people.

Tough words but tough ****.

Read what I said. There are those on FR whose first question is "Who's going to pay for it"?

I see some on here talking about Medicaid. Medicaid is a joke.Quality doctors do not accept Medicaid because it costs more to do the paperwork than they get in reimbursement. Medicaid is the government and they TELL doctors, radiologists and hospitals what they will accept for reimbursement. Medicaid is socialized medicine. Unless the parents could find a charity to help, this little angel was doomed.

“DOES not cost the millions some of you clowns on here have implied”

Do you know the treatment plan for Hodgekins disease?

Do you know the medication costs?

Do you know the hospiatlization costs?

Do you have a clue what you’re talking about?

Methyltrexate, one of the better treatment drugs for lymphomas, $10,000 per IV bag.

Vinchristine (I believe that’s how it’s spelled), single dose, $22,000.

Now, tell me that the costs aren’t astronomical.

You’re riled up because of the stupid dog comment that the reporter threw in to inflame passions. You got sucked in by a reporter instead of basing your reasoning on something simple we like to call FACTS.
