I guess I can forget about going to that beach where they have working airconditioner units set up in such a way that they keep the sand from burning your feet. Not to mention that skiing hill inside of that massive mall.

In a down economy, power shifts from the creative class to the governing class.

Thus it is to the advantage of the governing class to work for a down economy, as we are witnessing.

The cause has a lot to do with the draconian Sharia

Where are they going to run to? The west has lost its will to fight islam...

We’re about to find out what that place is going to look like with the power turned off.

Look for the next article and photos.

Interesting about the debtor’s prisons. That would explain why anyone getting laid off would want to amscray immediately.

If they’re foreign nationals, mostly back to Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt. They’re not all Arabs or Muslims. A Dubai citizen in debt at least has extended family to cover debts or plead on his behalf. It’s the foreign nationals who are really screwed.

good point.

Why is it we usually have ‘recessions’ or ‘the worst economy since the GreatDepression’ prior to elections?

In a down economy, power shifts from the creative class to the governing class.

Um, who says that the people who built an economy that was "a house of cards" (per the article) are "creative". From my pov, looks more like a bunch of oil-rich folk who hired a foreign "creative class" to actually "create" all the stuff that ultimately was unaffordable.

The ‘they’ in this article is comprised entirely of Westerners. They’ll all go home to the West.

Yeah, the "creative class" is so intelligent and talented they can't even make their car payments.

I've been there. I've seen this 'creative class' around town. Most are moochers, spending others' money. The more talented of this 'creative class' are hucksters and schemers basically trying to angle-in on Dubai's wealth and business visitors. And the top of Dubai's "creative class", the ones bringing in the big bucks through personal initiative and daring-do, are undoubtedly the foreign hookers.

Bunch of deadbeats.

Depends on who has the titles to the cars. They probably could be put on the market and roads in Europe or South America, but they probably aren’t built to comply with USA/EPA regs.
