Why Rush Limbaugh Is Good for the Republicans
Yahoo / Time ^ | 03/12/2009 | EagleUSA

Obama aides Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs knew what they were doing when they declared Rush Limbaugh the leader of the Republican opposition. They were putting Republican politicians in a trap. Repudiating Limbaugh would mean alienating millions of conservatives and declaring Limbaugh's plainspoken conservatism - which many of those politicians share - outside the lines of the national debate. But neither could Republicans allow the insinuation that they take orders from a radio host stand. If voters got that impression, they would look weak. Worse, the polls show more people dislike Limbaugh than like him.

The Republicans escaped this trap by saying that the White House was talking about Limbaugh in order to avoid talking about Obama's failure to come up with a financial-rescue plan. But now one Limbaugh controversy has been replaced by another. Instead of squabbling with Democrats about him, Republicans are arguing with each other. The subject of the dispute: Does Limbaugh help spread conservatism among Americans - or turn them off from it? (Read "Criticizing Rush Limbaugh: Over the Line?")

Some conservatives have always winced at Limbaugh's in-your-face style. But the debate today has a special charge because, like the similar debate over Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a few months ago, it is tied up with questions about the future of the Republican party.

The attempted political relativism of the blatantly obvious left continues. They cannot address the truth -- so they must deflect any scrutiny and attention to their reality away. Rush is a prime target --- he IS the truth.

But the answer is so simple, though I doubt if the GOP will pick up on it.

All it will take is one or more to say: “Rush is speakiing our words and ideals to those we cannot reach. We are a party undivided in conservatism and the America in which Rush speaks about daily.

Not so hard, and totally effective. That is if the GOP has the sense to follow along.

What the left thinks about Rush Limbaugh is irrelevant. It is the actions of so called “Republican intellectuals” that reveal the real weakness and hypocrisy in our political system. They have gone all out to help the left smear Rush while offering nothing in the way of ideas that will help the Republican Party.

"We are a party undivided in conservatism and the America in which Rush speaks about daily."

That would be a false statement.

YEP! Another article trying to turn conservatives into socialists by twisting the truth.

IF the gop would grow some ‘guts’, the world would be a much better place. But unfortunately they’ve got too many McCain’s, Specter’s, Snowe’s, Collins types in charge of their agenda. Isn’t there one gop Senator that has had enough and will go Strom Thurmond on the Senate? A good old fashioned filibuster to shut down the madness is needed.

I agree and it’s really not so hard to dissect what the libtards are trying to do.

Conservatism needs mass media, too, to affect day-to-day politics: to jam phone lines; to pull the national conversation rightward. It needs Limbaugh and the many like-minded talkers elsewhere on the airwaves. Doubtless they could do their jobs better, as could the conservative writers who scorn them. But if Limbaugh did not exist, conservatives would have to invent him. And it would be hard to do - as liberals have found when they have tried and failed to come up with their own successful radio shows.

Talk radio is the only medium that conservatives dominate in America. Is it really shrewd for conservatives to begin their political exile by attacking the leading figure in that world? To ask is to answer.

"We are a party undivided in conservatism"

Unfortunately, this would be a complete lie.

::::::::::
It is all about power now in Washington, which has degenerated into a socialist country club. The RINOs must be voted out in 2010 if there is to be any hope, along with restoration of a majority in at least one house. Is the GOP smart enough to work for that MUST HAVE objective?

Whoa! That's a bit much.

Rush is not the truth, but he conducts "a relentless pursuit of the truth." If you look up "philosopher" in an etymological dictionary, it comes from Greek words which combined mean, "lover of wisdom." Rush uses facts and logic, and addresses people as one adult to another. Journalists and other leftists use half truths and even lies, and they talk down to their audience as if they were parents and we were children. The ancient Greeks had a word for that sort of person, too - sophist. From which the word "sophistry" derives - and which inspired truth-seekers to coin the word "philosophy."

Absolutely, perfectly said.
