When Vice President Biden later today formally announces the nomination of Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske as the new Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, he will also be in a way formally downgrading the office from Cabinet-level status to non-Cabinet level status.
Interestingly, Biden himself criticized a similar move by then-President George HW Bush in 1989.

Is the “Drug Czar” in charge of enforcing drug laws or procuring drugs for the White House?
Good. Downgrade it. In fact, get rid of it, along with all of the other drug laws. It’s time Republicans prove they’re for limited government and stop supporting policies that have stolen more freedom and lives than any Marxist or terrorist.
Biden pushed the “reset button” in his brain when he took the position of VP. He back-stepped the statement that Barry was not qualified amongst other things.

i think slo-joe is an idiot and an embarrassment to the human race but he said that nearly 20 years ago. as folks (but not necessarily politicians) get new information they change their oppinion. there is enough recent stuff to get him on. besides just ask him to explain is position than and now. that could give hannity sound bites for 2 entire shows right there.
It’s long past time the Cabinet got pared down to the really critical fields.

Agreed,the only exception I'd make is to have the death penalty for the selling or manufacture of the real hardcore stuff like meth or pcp,but end the no knock warrents and the other fascist BS that come with the drug war
America should decriminalize marijuana, and stop the oppression/witch hunt of non violent offenders.. hell a rapist can get out of jail and still have their car..
There is no doubt pot is not something that inspires
and motivates,and life is better lived above the influence, but there is no point in persecuting free people who choose to do so in the name of some misguided
moral point of view. I have seen a great deal of suffering by those prosecuted while visiting as a spiritual mentor to many in jail, it makes no sense to call ourselves Christians while persecuting these non violent offenders, while accepting alcohol, etc.. and it makes no sense to begin an inquisition to make all be like a few, ie..let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.... Tax it, get rid of the mexican drug war, spend the money used for jails on education, and for all non violent offenders spend the money on rehab, not prisons.That would help the country and lift the image of the Christian community as being tolerant. Some say that tolerance is not the answer, I am sure thankful God is tolerant and forgiving, even if many
who follow him are not.

Fine by me, but I don’t think you’d have the immigrant problem as bad if you legalized marijuana - you can just as easily farm that in Mexico. And talk about CASH crops, baby.
