Voter's Remorse
Culture 11 ^ | March 4, 2009 | Denis Sanders

I should have known better.

For those of you who have been following me, most of you know that I grudingly voted for Obama last November. It was a ticket-spittling vote: voted for Obama and then voted GOP down the line. I noted that I was going to cast my vote with some trepidation:

While I am supporting Obama, it is with trepidation. I worry that once in office he will veer too far to the Left, pleasing the Democratic base. I can only hope that with so much support from independents and Republicans, that he will realize that he has to govern from the center or face a backlash in 2010.

Well, it seems like my fears have been confirmed. It started with the Stimulus Bill that I thought was too stuffed with pork to do any real good. Now it comes in the form of Obama's proposed budget.

From far away, it looks good. As David Brooks notes, it spends money in some needed areas like the environment and health care. It's when you look closer that you see how bad it is and it plays to Obama's progressive base leaving moderates in the dust.

[George W. Bush also campaigned as a moderate and talked about being a “uniter, not a divider.” Once in office, he governed from the hard right.]

That is COMPLETE BS! This guy is a moron. People on the hard right do not pass education reform drafted by Ted- there’s a blonde in the pond- Kennedy and a new prescription drug entitlement for seniors.

What a babbling idiot. He hopes Obama doesn't do what he has always said he was going to do. You get what you vote for, not what you hope for.

I fully concur and wish I'd said it the way that you did. We KNEW what an Obama administration would be/look like and tried to warn the rest of the country. Unfortunately, too many, like the writer of this article, chose to be selectively deaf, prefering, instead, to be mesmerized by the Obamoron.

Expressing his voter's remorse now doesn't change anything - that boat done left the harbor.

Is Obama a muslim? A recent newpaper article talked about “his adult conversion to christianity” as if it was a widely know fact.

I want to know then, what was he when he was young? (I think it is obvious he was muslim)

and if he was a muslim, what is the punishment for coverting to christianity?

>>Sorry Denis, it isn’t going over here!
Bam is doing EXACTLY what he said he was going to do.<<

Yep.

I never listened to his speaches, but I read transcripts. I recommend it to everyone. For me, nothing he is doing is surprising, even his incompetence in the job.

And you sound like a baby.

So your post, then, wins "most thoughtful, mature, and insightful analysis" post of the day? =)

Shall we make the nomination official? ;-)

To ALL:

If you have a child in college who voted for obummer.

Pay nothing more for their education. Tell them that they are getting the change they voted for. Do it now. Tell the college that all bills are to be sent to obummer. Tell your child to enlist or take out a loan.

I’m not the baby crying about those who didn’t vote for McScum 4 months after the election. Don’t worry I chucked my principles and voted for that piece of garbage too but I’m not such a baby that I call someone anti American for having principles.

Be a man for once. Sheesh

Did anyone see Obambi on the news today? He prattled on about how they passed such a nice bill with no earmarks at a..

I was shocked but I realized a few things.

Maybe he is too stupid to know what an earmark is? He doesn't recognize 8,000 of them when he sees them.

Or... more likely...

He knows no one will question him on the fact that there was 8,000 earmarks when he says there was none

Those of us who consider ourselves moderates ? moderate-conservative, in my case ? are forced to confront the reality that Barack Obama is not who we thought he was.

Give me a koolaide drinking liberal any day over a useful idiot moron.

They are the REAL curse of the world.

[If you want a moderate candidate, you have to put some skin in the game. We moderates don’t want to do that.]

If this moron wanted a left-of-center “moderate,” why didn’t he support McCain not the far-left radical Obama?

More and More I am hearing this from Democrats. Less and less am I seeing Obama bumper stickers.

Pretty soon it will look and sound like no one voted for Obama except some few because of the race thing. Yup, he just cruised on in with phantom votes. Well, we TRIED to tell you!!!!!

Obama’s Victory — A British view
An editorial from the London Daily Mail

Obama’s Victory

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare atta ck genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers’ unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America !

I have zero tolerance for ANYONE who voted for BO for ANY reason and then cries in a letter about being remorseful!

This quote is the most memorable...

“From far away, it looks good. As David Brooks notes, it spends money in some needed areas like the environment and health care”.

...ass clown STILL doesn’t get it. “Environment and Health Care”?! Saving the salamander, recycling education??!! WTF!? More free clinics in section 8 areas?! HIV research?! How about keeping your thingy out of the brown area. There! Better health care!
