Miami, FL – One day after Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton sided with law-breaking Palestinians in a Jerusalem housing spat (WSJ 03/09/09; p. A7), Republican United States Senate candidate Marion Thorpe released the following statement:

“President Obama’s foreign policy team, led by Secretary of State Clinton, should side with our age old ally Israel as we seek long-term peace and stability in the Middle East. We should not engage in local politics, including zoning matters, at the risk of instability and undermining the domestic policies of freedom’s greatest ally in the region. As Florida’s United States Senator, I will vote to stand with defenders of freedom and support Israel in their permanent path to peace.”

Dr. Marion Thorpe is the first Republican candidate to file for Florida’s US Senate Seat being vacated by Mel Martinez. Thorpe is the former State of Florida Chief Medical Officer. In 2008, Dr. Thorpe ran for United States Congress in Florida’s 23rd Congressional District, where he earned a record number of votes for a Republican candidate in this heavily Democratic district.

This man is a true conservative on all issues. He’s also the GOP’s most effective voice against socialized healthcare. Having been the Chief Medical Officer of the State of Florida, he’s uniquely positioned to expose the dangers of socialized medicine, which he does very well.
