USA Today had a similar story yesterday titled: "Mexican cartels plague Atlanta". My family and I are considering moving to Gwinnett County, north east of Atlanta, but after reading these stories and checking out some of the crime logs we are concerned (me) and worried (wife). Is this just the media being Captain Hyperbole or do people living in the north east suburbs of Atlanta feel unsafe?

OIt is really bad. Illegal aliens - do work Americans will not do.

Sadly Saxby Chambliss and the other one are RINOs who love the illegal alien Kenyan.

The government is in denial just the way they were with the gangs.
By the time they acknowledge the cartels it will be too late to stop them.

if you make it legal ,take the profit out of it, it will go away!...we're not doing that which to me means the politicians are in on it

Having lived in Southern California for most of my life I know how it goes. Illegal alien community grows quickly, followed by Mexican and South American gangs. They push out Black gangs and Black community by using terror tactics. There is a drug war between rival gangs. Small town police are overwhelmed, largely untrained and inexperienced handling gang activity and drug wars. By the time they do get a clue the gangs are entrenched, the white population has exited, the city has lost it's tax base, and is in ruins. Then the politicians in the area can only get elected by not strongly confronting the illegal elephant in the room and the crime in the new neighborhood concrete sets in permanently.

It’s happening in Texas and Arizona already, Obama is too tired to deal with it.

I wonder what a few hundred thousand armed citizens would be able to accomplish? None of the PC crowd, you understand. Just a thought.

Look at 'em---federale war profiteers salivating to get their hands on US money. Espanola con artists have been planning this for a long time.....using the well-worn Mideast Connivers Playbook entitled: "How To Dupe the US Into Pouring Trillion$ Into Your Country."

THE BIG PICTURE Mexico's drug war-----produced and directed by government federales (war profiteers)----are creating a new class of refugees seeking "political asylum" that is usually reserved for refugees claiming religious or political persecution, or fear of torture.......

The sob stories are so bogus-----whining as they sneak over our borders, just "god's children looking for a better life." Doing menial jobs on the cheap.

Now they are in high gear-----using scare tactics to alarm the US into getting involved in Third World problems---of their own making.

WHO'S KIDDING WHO? They deliberately foment social unrest---manipulating drug activities and gang warfare on US soil for a targeted goal. Americans end up subsidizing illegal Third World undesirables who rape and kill, molest our kids, rob our businesses, and cause multiple deadly car wrecks.

They are salivating to get their hands on trillions of US tax dollars. Echos of Mideast greed resound south of the border. Conniving Third World governments are pepetrating a con to get US dollars flowing into the pockets of greedy federales and drug lords. All under the guise of "stopping" the drug wars.

BIG CLUE they are now using children as foils.

The con job entails faking that they can't govern....that they are "helpless victims." Sure worked good in the Mideast---some of those lowlifes have been operating for years and are STILL too stupid to govern themselves.....UNLESS US tax dollars are pouring in.

CON ALERT Now watch the espanolas assay these tried and true Mideast cons to get the US tax dollars flowing:

1. Victimization----always works.

2. Baiting "enemies" of the US to attack their Third World hellholes (or, more precisely, people THEY claim are US enemies) in order to dupe the US to step in, and step up the dollar flow.

3. Sending espanola government agents masquerading as drug lords into the countryside to foment unrest.

4. Populating the US with espanola government agents to agitate for US govt involvement to trigger the flow of US tax dollars.

I live in the Atlanta area and this is the first I have heard of the drug cartels being here. Not to say it isn’t a concern, but it certainly doesn’t affect every day life. As for Gwinnett County, it does have a large Hispanic population, but I don’t know if that translates into gangs and drug cartels. There is also a large Korean population in Gwinnett County. Overall, it is a nice area, with some very upscale neighborhoods. Lots of traffic though.

I work as a paramedic in the Atlanta area, and have yet to see much drug violence. Very little gang violence either. Maybe it is coming, but it isn’t here yet.

I lived in Atlanta (Sandy Springs) in the early 1990s and even then the Mexicans were the source of pot, coke, tar heroin and meth. So this article is stating something that has been going on for at least 20 years and is nothing new. That said, the area I lived in was upper class, low crime and safe, but about five miles away was the "barrio" where all the Mexicans/Latinos lived.

You should first visit the area you intend to live in and check in out. I'd also look at the students at the school your kids will attend. You don't want them to be the only kids who speak English. Most parts of Atlanta (or anywhere) are segregated into class(race) because of home values.

I have family that have been longterm Atlanta residents and victims of crime. I visit often and IMO it’s infested with Illegals, every corner of the city. I recommend anyone thinking of moving to Atl visit and drive around the city in the early morning and note the amount of illegal roachs that are out and about working for all the service companies. I also think Atlanta is a Minority governed city and ersatz a Sanctuary! Be careful where you live.

Federal drug agent Jack Killorin calls Atlanta “the new Southwest border.”

That's what happens when there is no Southwest border.

I hope you're right ga medic and that crime in Atlanta/Gwinnett County is not on the noticeable increase. The USA Today story yesterday shows that the issue hasn't gone away and maybe increasing. I hope people force the politicians to take notice and responsibility before it spreads too quickly.

I live in Gwinnett County, in the Norcross area (Jimmy Carter Blvd.) and the crime rate is unreal because of the illegals. The crime has tripled here. You can’t even walk in your own neighborhood at night. The homes in my neighborhood have decreased in value.

I feel very unsafe here. My daughter and I were accosted by a Hispanic male while we were trying to go inside a fast food restaurant. I wish we could move.

One valuable tip, if you move, be sure you have a home association in your neighborhood.
