FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 09-49

Governor Palin Receives, Solicits Applications for Vacant Senate Seat

March 9, 2009, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin is encouraging registered Democrats who reside in Senate District B and would like to serve in the Alaska State Senate to submit a letter of interest to the Office of the Governor. The seat, which represents the Juneau area, is vacant following the resignation of Democrat Kim Elton last week. The Office of the Governor has already received more than two dozen unsolicited recommendations and applications for the seat.

“We know there are many qualified Alaskans who would fill this post enthusiastically,” Governor Palin said. “I appreciate those who believe in public service and would like to serve in this capacity.”

Palin is accepting additional public input concerning the seat after the local Democratic organization broke from the recent tradition of submitting the names of three people for the governor to consider. The party sent her just one name. The governor has 30 days from Elton’s resignation to fill the vacancy. The Alaska Senate Democrats must approve the governor’s selection which is due by April 1.

Interested parties should send a resume and letter of interest to the Office of the Governor, P.O. Box 110001, Juneau, AK 99811-0001. Deadline for submissions is close of business on Friday, March 13.

There’s a Native fellow in the running who’s a conservative Democrat and by all accounts a pretty good guy. I hope Sarah pulls a Burris and puts the scheming Alaska Democrats in the position of spluttering about why they don’t want an Alaska Native in the state Senate. Serves them right for pulling this dirty trick of only sending Gov. Palin one name, and of a sworn enemy at that.

A little bit off the topic but with Obama’s inept performance lately, GWB is looking better all the time but Sarah Palin, is soaring to greater heights among those who support her and those on the borderline of supporting her.

Hot Air is conducting a poll on Who is the Leader of the Republican party?

Sarah Palin could use your support. She is currently leading all GOP individuals at 27%; next is Rush Limbaugh at 15%. The only category Sarah is trailing is No one at 37%.

I’m sure the Palin haters will be along shortly to tell us that Sarah did this to get someone even more liberal appointed.

Gov. Palin is going to be attacked no matter who she picks. The left will attack her if she doesn’t pick Katulla, and the right will attack her for not picking someone that is more conservative, just like they did over her Supreme Court pick. Her enemies on both sides have the same motto: Ignore the facts, full speed attack.

Don’t think so. I don’t want her in DC as Senator. She should stay Governor and then run for the White House. We need a DC outsider with executive experience.

She needs to stay put and continue to show her executive skills.

This is a STATE senate seat. It would be a step down for a mayor.
