I don't understand how a woman could date several people whose politics she's publicly claimed to despise. There is a certain disconnect there that I find disturbing.
Also, as much as it pains me to say this and agree with anything the vacuous Ms. McCain has to say, there is an absolute problem with the GOP's inability to connect to young people. Denying it does not make it go away.
I was in high school when President Reagan was in office, and kids in high school and college loved him to bits. Students for Reagan, College Conservatives, Young Republicans, etc. He was traditional, he was older than many previous presidents, he was painted as being out of touch, and yet high school/college age young adults could not have loved or admired or "got" President Reagan more.
Those young people are now my friends and family. We have our own kids, many of or approaching college and high school age.
Collectively, though, for the most part, even though our kids are conservative, they do not vote Republican.

Or the GOP (and even some people I have run across on this board) acting like if they (young people) don’t like what the 70 year old geezer likes for principle, then they aren’t worth it anyway. Even though we know 90% of them wouldn’t automatically have liked what their dad liked when they were 19. And unfortunately, whether we like it or not, this is a package world. We are in competition to getting out a message and standing out in the rain with a great message doesn’t beat inviting someone inside to a really fun party with a bad message.
I hope that makes sense as a metaphor.
Young people move right when they begin to pay taxes, and have some responsibility.
“Connecting” to them by approving of gay marriage and abortion will get us no where.
Why did your “conservative” family members vote for Obama?
Just curious, thanks!
