Martin began teaching as an Exceptional Student Education associate on Feb. 21, 2008, and was hired full time on Aug. 13, 2008.

"Exceptional Student"? Does this mean smart kids or kids with learning problems?

Public schools no longer want anything to do with well-above-average students. In edu-speak "Exceptional" means learning-disabled.
