I don't think there will be a revolution. Who would shoot at whom? We are all so intermingled. And who knows who thinks what? Most people keep their thoughts to themselves. If enough people had felt that way, he wouldn't have been elected. And 4 years from now, he will have hired thousands more government employees (read Democrat voters) and paid off and bought more people. I just don't think there are enough people with a clear understanding of the dangers of the slide to socialism or collectivism or ____ism. Our prosperity will continue to decline, and people will continue to call for the government to do more for them. Just as they do in all the social democratic countries.
The difference this time, is that we have been the economic engine of the world, so the other stagnating economies could ride on our coattails. We were their escape valve. But when we go down there won't be any escape valve for us, or any coattails for us to ride on.
Maybe I'll change my tagline to O.B.A.M.A.(One Big A$$ Mistake, America). That's a good one.
It’ll just be everyone vs. the Federal Goverment (the few loyalists that will remain when they realize that is it a totalitarian, unconstitutional government!
You are probably right. They will buy off voters with goodies. But we can take solace in this: When historians compare the period 1982-2007, mostly Republican policies, with the next 25 years, there will be NO comparison. The 1982-2007 period with 96% of the period in growth mode will blow away the next period of a stagflationary economy which affords little opportunity to its citizens. Oh and you are also correct in that the rest of the world has depended on us for their well being. We are becoming European Socialists. But they will resent this because it will drag them down even more.We will be hearing alot more about how foreign nations detest America. Bush will look good by comparison. The only reason Europe has been able to “survive” with socialism is because they haven’t had to spend on their defense. We have done it for them. Now we won’t be able to afford it. They will anger them immensely. And make the world a much more dangerous place, too.
