Judging from what I read on bipartisan message boards, very few liberals are confident about their economic futures. They’ve begun to worry personally. It’s not universal and the granola eaters aren’t bothered. But it’s dawning on the SUV-mom.
The one message that is pretty accepted that this is a debt problem, and that more debt isn’t the answer. Sure, the clowns on DU aren’t in that mix. But the average suburban woman who votes Dem for the purpose of getting a freebie from Uncle Sam now realizes that there is a disconnect to her wishes. There’s still some hope on her part, but her loyalty will be determined by the growing reality.
One thing is clear: the election of 2012 will not be determined by independents basing their votes on the coolness of promoting an urbane hip-hopper to a position of maximum power. That particular thrill is fading fast.
