Ignoring for the moment whether evolution is true or not, no one can seriously dispute that 1) its implications are profoundly depressing for human beings, and 2) the Left loves the doctrine, because it reduces man to insignificance and allows the State to do anything with people it pleases. That's the real reason they want it crammed into the minds of the young; it is not "basic science" at all, and most people, even in scientific fields like medicine, have no need to know much about it.

In contrast, Christianity is 1) profoundly positive and conducive to joy, and 2) the only reliable basis for free economic and political systems.

You make my point. Scientists don't care about what feels good, and you shouldn't either. Scientists care about the truth. Evolution is an observed fact. You may not like it, but facts are facts regardless of one's feelings.

I can dispute it. I believe evolution is likely true (it’s still a theory, however). Regardless, I am convinced that however we got here, it was directed by God. Regardless of the big bang or however you think the universe started, there had to be something there in the beginning since you can’t create something from nothing, unless you are God.
