A gymnastics club was forced to stop holding classes at an independent girls school after Muslim parents complained about boy members of the group.
Colin Perry, who runs the Shirley Gymnastics Club, said he was saddened by the decision which he said compromised the school's commitment to multiculturalism because of fears of offending a minority.
He is now desperately searching for a new home for the club's 250 members - including 36 boys - which had held mixed-sex classes at the junior school site of Old Palace School, in Croydon, South London, since January last year.
'It's unbelievable,' Mr Perry said.
'There is a group of Muslim parents with Muslim children at the school and they are the ones putting pressure on the headteacher.
'It makes me sad to say that.'
He was told about the decision at a meeting with headteacher Judy Harris a few weeks ago.
'She said some of the parents have said their children go to an independent all girls school and unfortunately they're concerned because we have got boys in the club,' Mr Perry said.
'She said to us that the school has got far more Muslim children than last year, so effectively we have to interpret that in our own way.'

Harvard forces all non Muslims out of the pool when Muslim female students get their privileged, non co-ed swim sessions. Not even Muslim men are allowed at the time, IIRC.

If you don’t like a mixed class, don’t attend it. It is WRONG to force everyone to comply with one group’s preferences and eliminate the choice for others.
Why not? Best to have them know they are not going to shove around Americans. Best idea I have heard on this was always try to conger up a bit of gas when you see them at the g-store or Wally World.

Which implies the complainers didn’t have their kids in the *class* but merely on site at the school (at 5PM) and couldn’t stand the through that their daughters might even see one of those 36 *boys* in a gym class.

Apparently "respecting Muslim culture" requires that one enforce the various bigotries of such culture. England does not yet understand that bending over backwards to accept the enforcement of Muslim beliefs will result in the breaking of one's back. It is not a very far step from allowing Muslims to blare the 'call to prayer' across the city five times a day to restricting the ringing of church bells lest they offend Muslim ears and thus, run counter to the goal of 'celebrating multicultural understanding and respect.'
England does not yet understand. But it will. It surely will. As soon as the Muslims are strong enough and numerous enough to MAKE them understand. Not too far in the future, I suspect.
