Two candidates for top jobs at the Treasury have withdrawn their names from consideration, complicating already troubled efforts by Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner to staff his department at a time of economic crisis, according to people familiar with the matter. Annette Nazareth, who was expected to be tapped as deputy Treasury secretary, and Caroline Atkinson, who was being considered to oversee international affairs, have both taken their names out of the running, these people said.

The withdrawals aren't confined to the Treasury. Susan Tierney recently withdrew her name from consideration for the job of deputy secretary of energy for what a person close to her said were family reasons. Jane Garvey recently withdrew from consideration for the deputy secretary post at the Department of Transportation, according to people familiar with the matter.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's chief medical correspondent, has withdrawn his name from consideration as surgeon general of the United States, an administration official said Thursday

ROFLMAO!!! The real truth is that anyone with an ounce of common sense & human decence & morality, does not want to have their names & reputations sullied by what is shaping up to be the worst, most corrupt U.S. presidency ever!!! Plus any of the names for consideration in the Treasury Dept absolutely do not want their careers & reputations as CFO's or CEO's destroyed by being associated with the bankruptcy & destruction of the U.S. financial system.

It’s probably making the whisper rounds that to live and work in the presence of the great and powerful O-man, you definitely have to compromise your principals and keep a lid on your American-ness.

These political appointees are shills, it’s true but the elevated conversation seems to be, “Well, yes I am a sell out but what will my family think of me if I was part of the group that helped destroy America?”
