Possession of a long gun (shotgun or rifle) by an 18 year old is not a federal crime, even if it has detachable hi cap magazines. It seems Mass. has a law against rifles with hi cap detachable magazines. This state law may or may not be unconstitutional under the US Constitution (I hope so, but our Supremes are a wacky bunch).

It’s a shame to tar and feather this fine young man with a state felony just because he had this rifle. Pray that the state prosecutor uses some discretion in charging the young man. Most anti-gun laws make criminals out of otherwise honest citizens and do not affect real criminals who follow no laws.
