"A google search reveals this story was out in December 2008.
Why is it being reported as some new discovery by ABC?"

The "new" part of the story is that they just finalized the decision to let this government inspector retire without facing charges, without the details of the story seeing daylight in court and without revealing the real details regarding exactly who and what was going on at IndyMac.

Yes, the investigation is from 2008,  the "news" if you will is that the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION is who decided to let this die a quite death.

Yes. The problem is the slap on the wrist.

If the GOP has ANY SENSE left they would jump on this story. How much is his pension? How old is he? Do we have to pay for his health care for life?!

This vermin should be in a jail cell....just like Sandy Berger. And the lackies at the SEC who fell under Madoff’s spell. AND the underlings at Fannie/Freddie who have never explained their roles in the massive fraud perpetrated during Franklin Raines’ days at the helm. Raines didn’t go down to the accounting department and enter those transactions himself...he had lots of help.

It is now undeniable that there is different justice system for those on the “inside”-—gov’t workers and the well-connected. THAT IS THE SCANDAL.
