We wonder why kids are spoiled brats today ...

It’s a gift and the Brown kids should thank Mrs. Obama for it.

I feel weird defending the First Lady, but the British media sound like a bunch of whiners who are instilling an ungracious entitlement attitude in our youth.

Talk about shabby treatment. It sucks when people have given you a pass your whole life and suddenly, it’s you who is supposed to be gracious. Having been the recipient of grace their whole lives, the two of them are convinced they earned it or somehow deserved it. The pass was given to make the giver feel inclusive and progressive...it really had little to do with you Mr. & Mrs. Obama.

Perhaps now that you are on the other end, you might understand the relationship a little better.

No doubt they were probably very proper in their Thank You's to the First Lady.
Nevertheless, the article is to show the callous disingenuousness of the Obamas and their staffs in their (in)ability to understand the wider world apart from their own insular one of Chicago and their attempted haughty, holir-than-thou attitudes.

BO's attempt to get the world to like us, as if that is a goal this nation should consider worthy, will ultimately fail, as he has no clue what other nations really want from the U.S. He and his administration will flounder about for the next 4 years until the phrase "Jimmy Carter, the Second" is ringing in his ears.

The next Ronald Reagan better get up and start showing us who he is pretty soon, as this economic crisis can only worsen before it gets better. And we, the U.S., not just Republicans, are going to need a mighty strong leader come 2012.

It is protocol and the Obama’s blew this entire visit — both of them blew it. O with the non-presser and MO with her visit with Mrs. Brown. Made the USA look very bad.

You're not alone with that sentiment.

There’s a lot to criticize Pres. and Mrs. Obama for, but this ain’t it. As a kid, I’d much rather have gotten a model of Marine One than some high-end thing that would sit in the closet and gather dust. This is all too typical of the whinging Brit passion for complaining that they have been “mistreated” by the uncultured provincials. I’d rather the Brits repay their multibillions debt to us from two wars (like only the Finns did) ionstead of complimenting the taste in fine gifts to the White House of Mrs. Prime Minister.

The funny thing here is that over the past year the mostly liberal Brit press built Obama up in their own minds as the ultimate, suave, gracious, statesman that they felt was sorely lacking in Bush.

Now we are seeing the shock of these previously fawning journalists who have suddenly discovered that the Obamas are nothing more than two-bit Chicago hacks with no manners and no love for the Brits, as demonstrated by the repeated snubs.

I find the whining quite delicious considering everything the Brit press had previously said about the Obamas.

I have little time for either Obama or Brown but I agree with you. The Brown boys got nice presents, maybe their parents over-did the presents for the Obama girls but that’s irrelevant, to make a diplomatic incident over such a trifling matter is absurd, much better to save the outrage for some occurrence worth bothering about, there will be plenty of them over the next few years.
