WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Democrats on Wednesday suggested Republicans should join their call for a nonpartisan "truth commission" to probe whether the Bush administration abused its power, or face partisan congressional investigations.
The GOP response: Forget it.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, was supported in his commission proposal by a former career diplomat and a retired admiral. But he told a hearing he convened that if Republicans "remain absent or resistant, this opportunity can be lost."

Another great idea from these dolts. I think we should convene such a meeting on their spending habits.
How about an Obama “Truth Commission” lets start with where he was born...Hey Barry where’s your birth certificate?
A “truth commission” run by Communist DemocRATS suffering from BDS is very reminicent of the bullsh*t that went on in Nazi Germany and the old Soviet Union. Sieg Heil comrades! The yankees must be punished for engaging in the war on terrorism.
Let’s have a “truth commission” into Senator Leahy’s involvement with the North Vietnam government and Poll Pot regarding the commission of genocide in Cambodia.
How much longer before “the Jews” become the scapegoat of the day?
What if they gave an inquisition and no one showed up?
Let them, it will look as stupid as their attack on Rush.
The words ‘Democrats’ and ‘truth’ in the same sentence? This has got to be a joke.
It will be a while. Christians, White hetrosexual males, and legitmate gun owners are the next 3 in line. But the Jew’s turn is coming.
The words “Democrat” and “truth” should never be mentioned on the same page.
>>Let them, it will look as stupid as their attack on Rush.<<
NO, NO, NO. Allowing them freedom to destroy the country is not a good policy. Stop them on the beach. If not, prepare for a long and costly guerilla war.
Ignorant. I guess Leahy is running for the office of propaganda.
Bring it on. For one Bush defended this country. For another, the Congress was involved every stop of the way.
Less than 600 people to ruin our lives. I for one do not want one nickel of my money to be spent on this crap. I’m just getting angrier and angrier and angrier...
Just wait, it they will do it to Bush; they will do it to you.
This is ridiculous. It may be that the democrats are in the majority on the basis of the last election’s results, but they may not always be, and when they are not, let them not complain when their leaders are rousted from their nursing home beds and put on public trial for this, that or some other thing. Furthermore, the government and the country are no more than socially constructed realities. The Constitution recognizes that, and so did the Declaration of Independence. If it becomes obvious that all we get now is government by vindicative assholes, then we don’t have to be governed by such people. We can have government of the people, by the people and for the people, at least in those parts of the current country where that sort of thing is valued, and the marxists can have their own country for the little time it will last.
