Prime Minister Bruce Golding has vowed to keep Jamaica's anti-sodomy law on the books, regardless of criticism from gay rights advocates.
Golding told Parliament on Tuesday that gay rights advocates are ''perhaps the most organized lobby in the world'' and he vowed to preserve the country's 145-year-old anti-sodomy law that prohibits sexual acts between men.
He says his administration will not ''liberalize the laws'' in the face of criticism from any international groups.
Human Rights Watch has been urging Golding to repeal the anti-sodomy law.
Earlier this year, Golding came under fire for saying he would not allow gays in his Cabinet.
Holy Moly! Someone who will stand up the homos and not back down? Gotta keep an eye on this one!
It’s not ok to be gay.
Today I am in Jamaica. Quite an attractive island, come on down and enjoy the Sun.
Low 40’s tonight and 70 tomorrow.
Look at the national map and thank heaven you’re in Florida. Tomorrow I’m going sailing.
Most would love to have a hi of 40 tomorrow.
This guy is finished.
Maybe I’ll have to move to Jamaica when America falls apart from the Democrats’ socialist policies!
The West Indies don’t put up with that homo crap. God bless them for it.
Doesn’t sound like they’re gonna turn the other cheek...
Wasn’t it Jamaica that refused entry to a cruise ship that had a “Gay Cruise Theme”?
He sure as heck better not bend over for them.
