Keep in mind that to King George, Washington, Jefferson, and the rest of the Framers promoted treason (successfully). You’ve failed to grasp what those Men knew - that no alligiance to an earthly power is binding when that power consists of tyranny. Tell me that those same men - our Founding Fathers - if presented with the country as it stands today (or even last year), would not now be gathering to draft a Declaration.

I don’t believe the framers would be gathered today plotting to overthrow the U.S. government. They had a sense of history. They would probably be more amused and perhaps even proud that their creation functioned and continues to function so well. By their “creation” I include the concept of a nation in which free debate is encouraged.

Franklin, a relative late comer to the Revolution, would probably be blogging like crazy.

All that said, I don’t have an 18th century mind and can’t discern what they would have thought or not thought. I can say, that I’m growing tired of folks using “what they might have thought” as reason for treasonous outpourings against the gubmint they created.
