President Barack Obama plans to name Florida's state emergency director Craig Fugate to lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency, an official familiar with the appointment said Wednesday.
Fugate has served as director of Florida's Division of Emergency Management since 2001, when he was tapped by former Gov. Jeb Bush. He was retained by current Gov. Charlie Crist. Both governors are Republicans.
Fugate previously served as the agency's assistant director for nearly five years. Fugate has been praised for his efforts steering Florida through numerous hurricanes in the past decade.

So Obama is now choosing appointments from state’s that have no income tax. That’s one tax he knows the didn’t cheat on!
Fugate? That alone sounds like the name of a scandal.
I guess Fugate indicated to Comrade 0bama that he wouldn’t have any problem with rounding up dissidents and other political trouble makers when the time comes.
Fugate about it! ;-) The AP mentiuons that Charlie Crist and Jeb Bush are Republicans. Charlie Crist is not a Republican. Jeb is pretty good and less RINO-ish than the rest of the Bush clan.
Jeb is for open-borders like Juan McCain, Jorge Bush Dos (2) and Jorge Bush Uno (1), Mel “Scarface” Martinez and prissy Miss Lindsay Graham-nesty.
lol!
Cute!
This actually seems like a good pick. FL has been greatly tested in this decade and the state has been incredibly responsive during crisis.
Unless there is something here I am not aware of, I will, for only the second time since the election credit the man for doing something right.
Hey Now....easy on the name.... That’s the same name my Dad gave me... And I’m proud of it!
